This weekend I had friends in town and, naturally, I wanted to show them a good time. (I love to play host!) Originally I planned for the weekend centerpiece to be a sunset booze cruise around the Charleston Harbor, but iffy weather and sold-out tickets nixed that idea. What fortunate luck on our part! Instead of boating, we got dressed up and had ourselves a fancy night on the town. One of my favorite stops was the Market Pavilion Hotel rooftop bar.

This place, my friends, is the cat’s meow for seeing Chucktown. The rooftop is luxurious, with panoramic views of the ocean and steepled downtown skyline of the Holy City. The drinks are strong and intriguing, there’s always a breeze and it’s the perfect place to relax and show off your favorite coastal hometown.

My favorite drink of the night was a martini with Hendrick’s small-batch cucumber-infused Scottish gin and cucumber-infused lemonade: refreshing and summery, not too sweet. If you have guests in town or want to celebrate, I highly recommend the Market Pavilion rooftop.

Word to the wise: strict, strict dress code for the guys: collared shirts / closed-toe shoes or else . . . don’t say you haven’t been warned!
